The annual statistics released by the Brazilian Tree Industry Assn (Ibá) show that three paper grades – tissue, packaging and boxboard – accounted for the 1.4% output growth registered by the paper industry in 2017, when 10.47 million tonnes of material were produced.
Boxboard alone had an 8.3% annual production growth to 721,000 tonnes, while tissue moved up 3.8% to 1.18 million tonnes, and packaging totaled 5.5 million tonnes, 1.1% higher than in 2016.
