The German manufacturers of solid paper tubes and cores for the paper, film and textile industries can look back at a satisfying year 2016. Acccording to the industry association Fachvereinigung Hartpapierwaren und Rundgefäße (FHR), the sector’s sales came in at approximately Euro 250 million ($264.7 million) last year, which was slightly higher than in 2015, and the first three months of the current year have reportedly also gotten off to a good start.
Despite the generally positive picture, the industry is facing massive cost increases. According to the FHR, prices for coreboard, the most important raw material for the sector, have increased significantly while, at the same time, supply has declined.
